support uhs habitat
Each November and February, UHS students travel to the Mississippi Delta to connect classroom learning with lived experience. They study the Civil Rights Movement in English and history, and then they see it come alive:
They work alongside Habitat for Humanity to build homes for families in need.
They volunteer in local public schools, learning that the struggle for equity continues.
They visit the courthouse where Emmett Till’s uncle bravely testified.
They walk in the footsteps of Dr. King, Medgar Evers, and others who fought for justice.
Throughout their time in Habitat Club -- at a construction site in town, during weekly after-school meetings, or standing outside the Lorraine Motel where MLK was killed -- students are inspired to contextualize their own identities within a larger American society.
